Church Offers Hope for Unemployed,
Pool of Prospects for Employers

DALLAS, Texas, Feb. 4, 2010 – With a nationwide unemployment rate of 10 percent and rising, First Baptist Church Dallas is working to provide hope by partnering with Babich and Associates, Texas’ oldest placement and recruitment firm, to host the Career Solutions Career Fair and Information Session.

The downtown church invites Metroplex job seekers to connect with more than 30 of Dallas’ top industry leaders at the career fair, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Dallas in the Criswell Center, 1707 San Jacinto St., Dallas, TX 75201.

“As a church, we don’t solely focus on the spiritual needs of people, but like Jesus, have a heart for their physical needs as well,” First Dallas Executive Pastor Rev. Walter Guillaume said. “I truly believe that at the Career Solutions Career Fair opportunities for employment and networking abound.”

Representatives from a variety of job fields such as financial, health, hospitality and government will be included in the career fair. Among those employers already committed to attend are Alliance Financial Group Inc., Ambit Energy, CIGNA, Dallas Police Department, Dart Transit, Marketplace Ministries, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Parkland Health & Hospital System, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Waffle House Inc.

In addition, job search expert Tony Beshara will speak to attendees at 10 a.m. Beshara is recognized as the No. 1 recruiter in America by the industry’s leading journal, The Fordyce Letter, and is a frequent guest on the “Dr. Phil” show.

The event is free for job seekers and employers though registration is required. Attendees can register in person beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. For more information and a full list of participating employers, visit www.firstdallas.org/careerfair, or call (214)969-7813.
