Former Atheist Joins the Organization That Brought Her to Jesus, Fellowship for Performing Arts
Over a Decade After Attending FPA’s Production of The Screwtape Letters, Adrienne Johnson Now Works to Help FPA Impact Others
NEW YORK, N.Y. Feb. 4, 2026 — 14 years ago, Adrienne Johnson was an atheist in the depths of despair. When a friend invited her to attend Fellowship for Performing Arts’ theatrical production of C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters, it changed her life forever. That play set Johnson on a path to Christianity, and she now joins FPA as Director of Development, committed to expanding the nonprofit’s reach and impact among wider audiences with stories like her own.
“We are thrilled for Adrienne to join FPA,” said Max McLean, Founder and Artistic Director of FPA—and the actor who portrayed Screwtape when Adrienne first saw the production. “After a rigorous national search and thorough vetting process, it became clear that Adrienne’s professional growth and work experience aligned remarkably well with the needs of FPA, making her the ideal fit for this role.”]
Johnson comes to FPA from PragerU, where she served first as Chief of Staff and most recently as Director of Communications. In her new role, Johnson is grateful for the opportunity to utilize her past accomplishments, insight and powerful testimony to help advance FPA’s mission. “I know firsthand that FPA is impacting lives for eternity,” she said. “I look forward to helping grow FPA and inviting others to support our mission.”
A Southern California native, Johnson received her Master of Professional Writing degree from USC and went on to co-found a writing business specializing in marketing and fundraising content for nonprofits and financial advisors, helping secure a historic $50 million gift for the Boy Scouts of America. She later worked as a paralegal, supporting high-net-worth clients and Hollywood elite in trust, estate, and tax matters, before joining PragerU in 2019. Beginning in 2016, she often volunteered with FPA, speaking at donor events and sharing her transformative experience with The Screwtape Letters.
“FPA has big plans for the future,” said McLean. “Now that Adrienne has joined our ministry, I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in mind for 2026 and beyond.”
