Korie Robertson to Make Appearance in Arlington This Saturday for Open Call to Select Singers and Dancers for World-Premiere Musical Coming to DFW This Spring

Media Invited to Attend Open Casting Call for His Story: The Musical on Feb. 11 at 10:00 a.m. CST 

WHAT:  

His Story: The Musical will hold open call auditions in Arlington, TX on February 11, 2023, to find the original cast of its world premiere production, opening in Dallas-Fort Worth this May. Young, non-union, fresh-faced singers and dancers throughout the DFW area will participate in open call auditions on the campus of UT Arlington. Sign-in will begin at 10:00 a.m. CST. Hopefuls from across the metroplex will showcase their talents with the goal of earning a role in this once in a lifetime opportunity. 

Duck Dynasty Star and Co-producer of His Story: The Musical, Korie Robertson, will be in attendance to engage with the media and offer her support to the casting call process. 

His Story: The Musical is seeking fierce, strong, contemporary vocalists and strong well-rounded dancers who sing. Those auditioning must be non-union and a local hire in the DFW area as of March 2023. Performers of all ethnicities, backgrounds and identities are welcome and encouraged to audition. 

In addition to Korie Robertson, His Story: The Musical creator Anna Miriam Brown, two-time Tony Award nominated director Jeff Calhoun, and Tony Award nominated producer Bruce Lazarus will be on-site and available during the casting calls for interviews.

  • Anna Miriam Brown, Creator (Book/Music/Lyrics). Now 21, Anna started writing His Story: The Musical at the age of 16 while on a mission trip to Africa. A dyslexic, unable to read or write before 9 years old, Anna focused instead on the arts before writing her first songs at 15. Anna previously resided in Dallas and travels often doing research for writing projects, which include several new musicals. 

  • Jeff Calhoun, Director and two-time Tony Award nominee. His Broadway credits include Disney’s Newsies (Tony Award Nomination for Best Director), Bonnie & Clyde, Jekyll & Hyde, Grey Gardens, Deaf West’s Big River (recipient of a Tony Honor for Excellence and a Tony Award Nomination for Best Revival of a Musical), Brooklyn, Annie Get Your Gun, Grease (Tony Award Nomination for Best Choreography), Tommy Tune Tonite, and The Will Rogers Follies

  • Bruce Lazarus, Producer and Tony Award nominee. Broadway: Say Goodnight Gracie (Tony Award nomination - Best Play). Off-Broadway: Only Kidding, Shakespeare’s R&J. Bruce is the former Executive Director of Samuel French, the largest licensor of Broadway and Off-Broadway plays and musicals to the secondary market.
