WHAT: Mike Noriega, who lost his grandmother in the Surfside Condo Collapse in 2021, is hosting an event called, “Light into the Night” to honor the 98 fallen souls for an evening of hope, healing and prayer on Saturday, June 24 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at The Miami Beach across the site where the incident took place. Noriega is available to share the stories of the victims affected by this heart-breaking tragedy, including his own.
June 24 marks the two-year anniversary since the incident, and to honor his grandmother, Noriega released his new book, “Uncollapsable Soul: How Do You Endure a Broken Heart without Crushing Your Spirit?” inspired by his grandmother’s faith. Noriega shares with his readers how he has navigated grief and been inspired to maintain hope.
On June 24, 2021, around 1:20 a.m., Champlain Towers South, a 12-story beachfront condominium in the Miami suburb of Surfside, Florida partially collapsed, resulting in the deaths of 98 innocent people. One of those 98 was Hilda Noriega, grandmother of Mike Noriega. While the Noriega family was in shock and immersed in grief during this aftermath, Mike stepped up to act as a media spokesperson on behalf of the families impacted, allowing him to not only share the profound faith of his grandmother, but to also discover his own faith in the process. Ultimately, his grandmother’s legacy of love ignited a passion within him to help those that are suffering answer their deepest question: How do you endure a collapsed heart without crushing your spirit?
Through Noriega’s own seasons of dealing with a burdened and broken heart, he’s found healing through his “5 Requisites of Restoration” process, which he shares in “Uncollapsable Soul” through the stories of the Surfside families that have profoundly impacted him. Noriega was inspired not only to give a voice to those affected by this profound tragedy, but also to share with others ways to healthily cope with grief following a traumatic loss.
